Enchanted April Bed and Breakfast Inn is named after the British film Enchanted April which is a based on a 1922 novel by Elizabeth von Arnim. Directed by Mike Newell. Starring Miranda Richardson, Alfred Molina, Jim Broadbent, the 1992 release received several Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. It is the story of four dissimilar women in post-World War I England going on a holiday to a secluded castle in Italy that casts a warm, relaxed spell that evokes
feelings guaranteed to bolster sagging spirits.
Elizabeth von Arnim's novel is a slow-paced gem about the civilizing influence of a holiday to a
secluded coastal castle in Italy. Mrs. Arbuthnot and Mrs. Wilkens, who belong to the same ladies' club but have never spoken, become acquainted after reading an advertisement for villas for rent in a
newspaper. The find some common ground in that both are struggling to make the best of unhappy marriages. Having decided to seek other ladies to help share expenses, they reluctantly take on the
waspish, elderly Mrs. Fisher and the stunning, but aloof, Lady Caroline Dester.

Over the course of their stay, they gain insight into their lives and start altering them. San Salvatore, the romantic Italian castle they stay in, has a magical & enchanting effect on each of them. The gradual changes in all of the characters lives, from dissatisfied to content, is witnessed as the castle works its magic on them. The four women come together at the castle and find rejuvenation in the tranquil beauty of their surroundings, rediscovering hope and love.
